BASEBALL & SOFTBALL GLOVE LEATHER REPAIR

WHAT TYPES OF DAMAGE CAN BASEBALL GLOVE LEATHER REPAIR FIX?

Not every damaged glove needs to be replaced. Depending on the location of the damage and condition of the surrounding leather, many tears, holes, and damaged areas can be repaired to extend the life of the glove.

TORN LEATHER & HOLES

Small tears, splits, and holes can often be stitched closed or reinforced when the surrounding leather is still strong enough to support the repair.

LEATHER PATCH REPAIRS

When damaged leather cannot simply be stitched back together, a leather patch may be used to reinforce the area and help restore the glove’s usability.

WEB REPAIR & GLOVE REBUILDS

Damaged webs can sometimes be repaired or rebuilt depending on the web design, extent of the damage, and condition of the surrounding leather. Web repairs are evaluated and quoted individually.

REPAIR IT BEFORE THE DAMAGE SPREADS

A small tear or damaged area in a glove can become a much larger problem when the glove continues to be used. Catching, squeezing, and throwing place repeated stress on the leather, especially around lace holes, seams, the pocket, and web.

Repairing damaged leather early can help prevent the surrounding area from tearing further and may make the difference between a straightforward repair and damage that becomes difficult—or no longer practical—to fix.

If you notice a tear, split, hole, or damaged web, send us photos before continuing to play with it. We’ll take a look and let you know what your options are.

SMALL DAMAGE CAN BECOME A BIG REPAIR.

IS YOUR GLOVE WORTH REPAIRING?

Not every damaged glove should automatically be repaired. Before recommending a repair, we look at the condition of the leather, where the damage is located, how extensive it is, and whether the repaired area will be strong enough to continue performing on the field.

CONDITION OF THE LEATHER

Is the leather around the damaged area still strong enough to hold a stitch or patch?

LOCATION & EXTENT OF DAMAGE

A small isolated tear is very different from widespread deterioration in a high-stress part of the glove.

VALUE OF THE GLOVE TO THE PLAYER

Sometimes an older glove is worth repairing because it’s already shaped exactly how the player wants it, has years of use and memories behind it. or simply can’t be easily replaced.

WE’LL TELL YOU WHEN A REPAIR MAKES SENSE — AND WHEN IT DOESN’T.

LEATHER REPAIR PRICING

Every leather repair is different. Pricing depends on the type and location of the damage, condition of the surrounding leather, and the repair required. Send us photos of the damaged area and we’ll evaluate the glove and provide a repair quote before any work begins.

MORE THAN JUST SEWING UP A HOLE

Repairing damaged glove leather requires more than simply pulling a tear back together. The condition of the surrounding leather, direction of the tear, location of the damage, and stress placed on that area all affect how the repair should be approached.

Hughes Glove Works evaluates each damaged area individually and uses hand stitching, leather reinforcement, and patching techniques as appropriate to create a functional repair while preserving as much of the glove’s original shape and feel as possible.
